Heat and Serve - Gorditas
Gorditas Are A Saucer-shaped Bread That Can Be Served Faced Or Like A Sandwich
Prep Time: 5 Minutes Cook Time: 20 Minutes
2 Cups Quaker
1/4 Cup All-Purpose Flour
2 Teaspoons Powder
1/2 Teaspoon Salt
2 Tablespoons Shortening
1 Cup Worm Water
1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil
2 Cups Assorted Toppings As Prepared
Shredded Beef Or Pork,Chorizo (Mexcian Sausage),
Mexican Style Cheese (i.e. Chihuahua Or Monterey Jack Cheese),Fresh Chopped Tomatoes And Lettuce.
1. Heat Griddle To Medium (375 Degree F).
2. To Make The Gorditcs, Quaker Maso Eno De Maiz, All-porpose Flour, Baking Powder And Salt. Add Shortening And Water. Knead Until All
Ingredients Ore Well Blended And You Are Able To Form A Boil.Divide Dough Into 14 Balls. Keep Dough Covered.Using A Rolling Pin, O Tortilla Press, Or Your Hands, Press Boll Between 2 Plastic To Form A (Or Disk) That Has A 5-Inch And Is 1/4 Thick.
3. To Form And Cook The Gorditas, Lay Gordita On Preheated Girddle. Cook Side For 2 To 3 Minutes Or Until Lightly Browned. While Stil Worm, Pinch Edge To Form A 1-Inch Rim. The Gordita Should Resemble A Small Saucer.
4. Preheat Oven To 1500 F.Line A 9x13-Inch Baking Pan Several Layers Of Paper Towels. Set Aside.
5. To Fry Gorditas, Use O Large (8" To 1O") Frying Pan. Heat 1/4 Cup Vegetable Oil And Fry 2 To 3 Gorditas At A Time For 1 To 2 Minutes, Frequently, Untill The The Two Sides Are Lightly Brown Crud Crisp.Place Frid Gorditas Prepared Baking Pan And In Preheated Oven To Keep Warm.
6. To Top And Serve Gorditas, Spoon About 2 To 3 Tablespoons Of Prepared Shredded Beef Or Pork, Chorizo, Mexican Style Cheese, Chopped Tomatoes And Lettuce Or Your Favovorite Topping,Serve Warm.
